How to get your clients to cleanse their lashes

Client lash care is a challenge as old as lash extensions. It seems every lash artist has had struggles with getting their clients to take proper care of their lashes. No matter how much it is explained to them, some clients just can’t or won’t seem to keep their lashes clean. Clean the way we want them clean. Here are great tips on eyelash extension aftercare for your client regarding cleansing.

• Offer a cleanser that’s safe for eyelash extensions to your clients. If you’re relying on your clients going to the local drugstore and picking something, you’re already behind the curve. If you want your clients to take great care of their lashes, it’s up to you as a lash artist to offer them the tools to do so.

• Walk them through the cleansing process at your sink. Have your client cleanse their lashes while you watch, and guide them through. Most often clients are not getting the cleanser at the very root of the lashes. If you can guide & give them encouragement to really get into the base of the lashes with their cleanser, it will help them understand what you are asking them to do.

• Show a video on how to cleanse their lashes. Share this with every client, email it to every client, or even have it on a loop on a screen in your waiting area.

• If you don’t like to “sell”, include the price of a bottle of cleanser in each full set. This way each client will receive the proper product she needs and can purchase it from you when she needs to replenish.

• Cleanse your clients’ lashes for them at each appointment. When you are doing so, go over with them the steps in cleansing and ask them to pay special attention to exactly what area of the lash line you are cleansing- so they can get a feel for how safe it is to go into the very base of the lash line.
